Tecno Camon 16 Premier Review

The photography landscape has changed over time and this is undisputable.

It’s no longer about getting just a moment to share but it has moved to how well you capture the moment and the amount of detail in the picture or video, one thing that had kept DSLR cameras relevant but that is changing slowly.

For the time I used the TECNO Camon 16 Premier, I realised that there won’t be much need to carry a heavy camera for your photos and videos when you can have it all packaged in a mobile device.

The engineers at TECNO had all this in my mind when they made the TECNO Camon Premier’s quad camera set up on the rear side.

The device comes with a 64MP main shooter, an 8MP ultrawide camera lens, a 2MP depth sensor and a 2MP low light sensor to make sure in every condition, you can capture your moments with ease and pleasure.

The quad flash which is also part of the camera set up is a necessary addition to add more detail under low light or during the night.

I noticed major change in video mode which I can confidently say is a game changer. You can now shoot in 4K 30FPS (Frames per second) which is a big break and the first of the kind in any TECNO device.

Away from that, the TECNo Camon 16 Premier has other different video modes like 1080 60FPS.

Another exciting feature about the camera is the introduction of Slow-Mo (Slow motion). You can slow down your shooting and it will give you top class slow-mo shots.

Even better, you can also use the slow motion mode for the front camera. If you have some long hair and you are trying to flip it back and forth, it will give you one of the dopiest shots. Unfortunately my bald head couldn’t demonstrate this.

The camera further has a 3D doddle feature where you can draw anything in your portrait shot and it will typically appear as part of the picture. This takes it a long distabce far from the mnormal phone camera s and enchroaches on the DSLR space.

Another feature which I found fascinating was the fact that it has integrated a photo compressor should one need it.

I could go on to talk about the TECNO Camon 16 Premier’s camera but I will leave this to you, to purchase the device and experience it yourself. The device is already available in all Tecno branded shops and comes with 3GB internet from MTN for three months.

The Camon 16 premier comes with a 4000mAh battery and from my personal experience, this is an all day battery life or two days if you are not a heavy gamer.

Its charging speed is very impressive to say the least. I was able to charge it from 0% to 72% in about 15 minutes and as hard as it is to believe, it charged from 0% -100% in about 1 hr 15 minutes.

You will like the charging speed although for the short time I have had the device, I don’t know how it will affect the battery.

The TECNO Camon 16 Premier comes with 128GB storage and 8GB RAM. You get 117GB of available storage.

You can expand this storage with a micro SD card that can be inserted in the 3in1 tray on the left side of the device.

Processor and performance.

We are running on Android 10 with HiOS verson 7.0 slapped on top of it.

HiOs version has improved over the years and the 7.0 version is even better. The ability to uninstall some of the preinstalled apps brings some level of comfort to the user.

You get the Mediatek Helio G90T Octa Core CPU clocked at 2.0GHz and has a super fast gaming chip which will handle heavy games if you are into mobile gaming. There is no lag when playing games.

It has a very dynamic refresh rate, the first of the Tecno’s I have seen with such swift refresh rate and like I mentioned, Tecno went all in for premium.

For your eyes, you can get dark mode if you please. I love how it looks in dark mode and it’s what I have used for most of my review time.

You get quick settings on scrolling down from the top of the screen.
